Pendant trois semaines, Parsons Paris investit la Galerie Plateforme pour trois expositions. Ces expositions mettront en valeur diverses œuvres produites par les étudiants de Parsons Paris depuis les premières années, jusqu'aux licences AMT (Art, Médias et Technologie) et aux Masters (Design + Technology). Un projet lancé par le directeur du programme du département Art, Médias et Technologie Benjamin Gaulon en collaboration Félicie D'Estienne D'Orves, Bridget O'Rourke et Nicolas Maigret. During three weeks Parsons Paris is taking over the Plateforme Gallery for three exhibitions. Those exhibitions will showcase various works produced by the students of Parsons Paris from first years, to the Bachelor (Art, Media and Technology) and the Masters (Design+Technology). A project initiated by Art, Media & Technology department’s program director Benjamin Gaulon in collaboration Félicie D’Estienne D’Orves, Bridget O'Rourke and Nicolas Maigret.

InfraspaceÀ partir du the BFA Art, Media & Technology sophomore’s show : Infraspace. Une vitrine des œuvres de la classe Spatial enseignée par l'artiste française Félicie d'Estienne d'Orves. Cette exposition collective repense la notion d'inframince inventée par Marcel Duchamp.Commissaire : Sean Rose. Starting with the BFA Art, Media & Technology sophomore’s show: Infraspace. A showcase of works from the class Spatial taught by French artist Félicie d’Estienne d’Orves. This group show is rethinking the concept of inframince coined by Marcel Duchamp. Curated by Sean Rose Inspiré par la notion d’inframince, Infraspace explore le concept duchampien à travers une approche pluridimensionnelle, invitant le « regardeur » à pénétrer dans cet espace fuyant qui vibre entre l’œuvre et sa perception. Tentant de donner une définition de l’art, Marcel Duchamp avait déclaré que « l’art est en réalité que le chaînon manquant, pas les liens qui existent. Ce n’est pas ce que vous voyez qui est de l’art, l’art c’est l’écart. » Cette exposition souhaite faire en sorte que le visiteur crée ce lien manquant – qu’il se relie à travers ses sens à l’environnement dans lequel les pièces sont exposées mais qu’il se projette surtout au-delà de l’espace de la galerie dans les interstices infinitésimaux, qu’ils soient spatiaux ou temporels, contenus dans les œuvres présentées. Des micro-perceptions quotidiennes (furtifs contacts visuels, déstabilisation éphémères, sens du goût fugace, lecture subliminale) incarnent cet inframince de la sensation et rappellent qu’à la base de l’expérience esthétique se trouve un « toucher », un point de contact avec l’infini de l’Autre. Inspired by inframince (infrathin), Infraspace explores Marcel Duchamp’s concept in a multi-layered and multidimensional approach, inviting the ‘viewer’ to engage with the elusive space between work and perception. Discussing art, the father of readymade once said: “What art is in reality is this missing link, not the links which exist. It’s not what you see that is art, art is the gap.” This show entices the visitor to make that missing link—to relate through their senses to the environment in which the works are displayed but also project themselves beyond the white cube into an intimate relationship with infinitesimal spaces, be they spatial or temporal. Everyday life micro-perceptions (eye-contact, passing loss of balance, ephemeral taste on the tongue, subliminal reading) are re-enacted in Infraspace, underscoring that the basis of any aesthetic experience is ‘touch’, making contact with the infiniteness of the Other. Small WorksUne vitrine des œuvres du Curriculum Transdisciplinaire de Première Année à Parsons Paris. Les étudiants Majors de premier cycle à Parsons étudient ensemble les principes fondamentaux de la créativité dans l’art, le design et les stratégies du design. A showcase of works from the transdisciplinary First Year Curriculum at Parsons Paris. Students from all undergraduate majors offered at Parsons study together to learn the basic principles of creativity in art, design and design strategies. A more fruitful way to spend free timeCette vitrine des œuvres de la classe Disnovation enseignée par l'artiste français Nicolas Maigret se concentrera sur les espaces de friction générés par la Gig Economy. Au cours du printemps 2017, les étudiants du BFA AMT et MFA Design + Technology ont travaillé et recherché divers sujets liés à l'innovation technologique et leurs impacts sociaux, politiques et environnementaux. Cette exposition sera la suite d'une série d'événements autour de ce sujet co-organisé par le département Art, Médias et Technologie de Parsons Paris et Nicolas Maigret depuis 2013. This showcase of works from the class Disnovation taught by french artist Nicolas Maigret will focus on the friction spaces generated by the Gig Economy. During the spring 2017 semester students from the BFA AMT and MFA Design + Technology have been making work and research around various topics related to technological innovation and their social, political and environmental impacts. This exhibition will be a continuation of a series of events around this topic co-organised by the Art, Media and Technology Department of Parsons Paris and Nicolas Maigret since 2013.
